Aged Care Facilities
We work with residential aged care managers to build a consistent, scheduled dental program for residents. The same familiar team every visit — which matters when you are working with people who do best with routine.
More about aged care dentalDisability & Supported Living
For residents in supported living settings, we coordinate with care teams and support coordinators to deliver dental care on-site. HNE Health vouchers, DVA, and health funds all accepted where applicable.
Schools
Preventive dental visits to primary schools, including check-ups, oral health education, and early intervention. We coordinate directly with school leadership to fit the school schedule and minimise disruption.
More about school dental visitsThree ways we can work with your facility
Every facility is different in size, resident need, and staffing. We offer three structured programs so the arrangement fits how your facility actually runs.
Reactive Care
When a resident needs dental attention and getting to a clinic is not practical, your team contacts us and we schedule a visit. A good starting point if you want to see how mobile dental works before committing to a program.
- No ongoing commitment required
- Suited to smaller or lower-dependency facilities
- Full treatment capability on-site
Monthly Program
Once we are seeing around 50 of your residents regularly, we can discuss moving to a structured monthly preventative program. A dedicated visit day each month, seeing around ten residents, with dental scheduling coordinated by our team. Funded through HNE Health vouchers, health funds, DVA, and private pay.
- Fixed monthly schedule your team can plan around
- Around 10 residents seen per visit day
- Health fund and billing handled by our team
- Ongoing oral health tracking per resident
Fortnightly Program
For larger facilities wanting embedded, comprehensive care across the whole resident cohort. Includes oral health screening, staff education, and an ongoing oral health program for all residents.
- Fortnightly or weekly schedule
- Digital oral health screening and mobile triage for all residents
- Staff education and training included
- Whole-of-facility oral health program
Evidence-based music therapy, delivered on-site
Music therapy is an evidence-based allied health intervention delivered by Registered Music Therapists. Sessions are tailored to individual and group needs, and designed to support resident wellbeing, emotional health, and social engagement in aged care and disability settings.

Group Music Therapy
Designed for 8 to 15 residents, group sessions support social engagement, cognitive stimulation, and mood regulation. Music activates memory in ways other activities often cannot, which is particularly meaningful for residents living with dementia. Regular group sessions also reduce agitation and give residents a shared experience to look forward to.
Individual Music Therapy
Targeted individual sessions of around 30 minutes per resident, focused on specific clinical goals — emotional regulation, memory stimulation, reduction of agitation, or behavioural support for residents living with dementia.
Outcomes & Reporting
Monthly summary reports covering resident engagement, mood response, behavioural observations, and social interaction. Each report includes recommendations for ongoing support and can be shared with your clinical and care teams as part of the resident's record.
Integration with Your Team
Minimal staff involvement is required during sessions — your team can continue with their usual work. That said, staff are very welcome to attend. Music therapy often has a positive effect on the people in the room, and we find care staff sometimes benefit from the session as much as the residents do.
Expanding allied health services
Music therapy is where we started. As the Watagan Healthcare group grows, we are adding occupational therapy, speech pathology, and further allied health services to the mobile team.
Here is how it works
We keep setup as simple as possible for your team. A single conversation is usually enough to understand what your facility needs and whether we are the right fit for each other.
Initial Enquiry
Complete the form below or call us. We will ask a few quick questions about your facility and what level of care you are looking for.
Facility Visit
We come out to meet your team, confirm the logistics, and understand the specific needs of your residents. No obligation at this stage.
Schedule Set
We agree on a program and set the visiting calendar. Your care team receives a simple guide so there are no surprises on visiting days.
Ongoing Care
We manage scheduling and clinical documentation. Your team focuses on what they do best — we take care of the healthcare side.
Serving Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley, and surrounding areas
Our mobile services currently operate across the Lake Macquarie and lower Hunter region, with a growing schedule of facilities. We are adding new locations as the team expands.
If your facility is outside these areas, get in touch anyway. We may be able to accommodate additional locations as the schedule grows, and it costs nothing to have that conversation.
What facility managers typically want to know
What does our facility need to provide?
For dental: A private room with access to power. Access to water is helpful but does not need to be in the room itself. A spare bedroom, consultation room, or large bathroom typically works well. For residents who are bed-bound, we can treat them in their own room. We bring everything else — chair, lighting, suction, and sterilised instruments.
For music therapy: A common area large enough to comfortably seat 8 to 15 residents for group sessions. One-on-one sessions can be delivered in the resident's own room, so no dedicated space is needed for individual work.
How is the cost covered for residents?
Dental: Most residents are covered through a combination of Medicare, private health insurance, DVA entitlements, and Hunter New England Health vouchers. Our team coordinates billing arrangements individually so there is minimal administrative work for your staff.
Music therapy: Where a resident has NDIS funding with mental health or therapeutic supports approved, this may cover sessions. Some facilities also choose to fund music therapy through their own activity or wellbeing budget. We are happy to discuss what arrangements make sense for your situation.
What treatments can be done on-site?
Dental: Check-ups, scale and cleans, fillings, extractions, and denture work. Procedures that require a fixed clinic setting will be coordinated through an appropriate referral, with the process made as smooth as possible for the resident.
Music therapy: Individual and group therapeutic sessions tailored to resident goals — these might include emotional regulation, memory recall, reducing agitation, or social engagement. Sessions are delivered by Registered Music Therapists and documented with outcome reporting.
Who will be visiting the facility?
Dental: Our mobile dental team includes an oral health therapist and dental assistant per visit. Where possible, the same team is rostered to your facility across visits — continuity matters for residents who do better with familiar faces. For residents requiring more extensive treatment, a dentist will come on-site to carry out that work. The dentist does not attend every routine visit, but is involved whenever the clinical need requires it.
Music therapy: Sessions are delivered by Registered Music Therapists (RMT), credentialed through the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). AMTA registration requires a minimum of a master's degree in music therapy, so your residents are receiving care from practitioners trained to a graduate clinical standard.
What is the process for residents who are anxious or have dementia?
Dental: We have experience working with residents who need additional time, modified communication, or a gentler approach. We ask that your care team brief us on any residents with specific needs before the visit so we can plan accordingly. There is no pressure to proceed if a resident is distressed — we work at their pace.
Music therapy: Residents living with dementia often respond particularly well to music therapy. Familiar songs and rhythms can reach people who are otherwise difficult to engage. Our therapists are trained in working with residents who have cognitive impairment or complex behavioural needs, and sessions are adapted accordingly.
How does music therapy fit with existing care plans?
Music therapy sessions are designed to work alongside existing care plans without adding to your team's workload. Our Registered Music Therapist liaises with your lifestyle and clinical teams for resident selection and goal-setting. After each visit cycle, written outcome reports document resident engagement, mood response, and any observations relevant to ongoing care. These can be shared with the broader care team and kept on file as part of the resident's record.
